We're having trouble refinancing with Chase. It's a huge headache. Anyway...wanted to tell you a story. A few years ago, when we were adding an addition onto our house, the inspector had a problem with a ceiling beam and said we couldn't continue until the engineer signed off on it. I called the engineer...and waited...called again...and waited. You get the idea. This went on for a few weeks. Finally, I sent him a basket of chocolate-chip cookies complete with a balloon and a note, "We promise to be sweet. Please stop by soon." He came the next day!

With short sales I always feel as if there is funny business going on in the background that you don't know about and sometmes illegal money changes hands and then the deals off and it's just all wrong. There is no reason they can't approve the damn thing. Eat all the cookies yourself and fight hard!

In NY once you sign a contract and get mortgage approval, after the contract signing, the first day you can force a closing in 90 days later.

So we sign the contract mid September and their lawyer says that we will probably be able to close late Feb. or early March. My wife looks at him and says 90 days after approval, I'll walk it to your office before noon tomorrow. He laughs. She walks the approval into his office before noon the next day.

She was personal assistant to the defacto CEO (the owner was the titular CEO) of the third largest bank in New York. We already had approval, it just couldn't leave the bank until after the contract.

I think you're very clever to post these letters...maybe somehow it'll get back to him and he'll make it happen for you.

I know of many nightmare stories around short sales. (as everyone does these days.)The banks are magnifying the entire real estate problem by dragging their feet on these sales!

And, I don't know anyone either that wouldn't love those cookies.
