hi, i'm krysta and welcome to my blog... evil chef mom. if you want to know how i came up with such a ridiculous name for a blog click here. anyways... this is a sometimes blog. sometimes it's about food, sometimes it's about crazy ludicrous things that seem to only happen to me, sometimes it's about family. i post about whatever pops into my addled wacked out adhd brain [oh hey! look it's a squirrel!]. if you want to join the crazy train... hop aboard and keep reading. don't say i never warned you!
I have been cutting this cartoon out for the last week or so, the follow-ups to this one are just as perfect! This is SO my life!!! I also have four kids and they are all like this!
I love Zits because the author captures teenagers so perfectly. We almost always have a Zits cartoon on the fridge - much to my teenagers dismay!
I followed this one all week. He's hopeless and helpless every step of the way, it's pretty amusing. He even asks her if he eats it right out of the pan.
I don't have kids... but I have Steve, who would have to learn from square one. A little frustrating at times.
I *cannot* let my kids come into the kitchen. If I let one, then another comes in, then another follows that one and then 4 more make their way! there just isn't enough space. :(
ohmygosh. Krysta- This is my life, husband included. The other day, he was standing in front of the open fridge saying, 'honey? Where's my hot sauce? Is this it?" All the while he was holding the hot sauce he was seeking. I kid you not. Ugh. They're all lucky they're so cute.
To be fair, if I needed to boil an egg I would need to check a book. It isn't something I do and I've no idea what the timing is.
On the other hand, I've no problem making my own sausage.
I've few dishes I cook, I do the Chinese stir fry and grill, although my wife often preps the latter. Mostly I do food prep, such as sausage or bacon curing, or food preservation.
so far, i've only been on the other end of this scenario. despite helping my mother cook and bake fabulous things my whole life, i was dumfounded in college: I remember calling to ask how to make a baked potato! thank God for the Joy of Cooking.

Oh yeah, this is how it is over here.
I live the life of those parents in Zits. My 17 year-old son asked me how to get water to boil the other day. I am not lying.

Heck even I remember doing this to my mom when I was younger.

Yes, they can bright but hopeless;)
My husband once asked how he would know when the pizza was done reheating in the oven. I don't know, when it's hot?
Yes, my college graduate daughter calls me (from L.A.) and asks me how to boil an egg...
What did they teach her anyway? LOL! After the fourth time, she finally got it. *sigh*

The day my kids can learn to prepare a meal for themselves (including pouring cereal into a bowl!) I will rejoice to the heavens!
