*cough cough* When are you going to give me that recipe, Stacey? Oh, are you busy? With two kids under the age of two? Who cares? You are now super mom and your sister's readers so need this recipe.
Why can't you find this beer anywhere? Don't tell me Bev-Mo, already looked.
Oh my lord of sweet honey goodness. Loukoumedes. Greek Honey Fritters... [I'm trying to sound like Homer Simpson, right now]

I'd sell my soul for these. Anybody have a recipe for this or what kind of honey to use because I have tried to make these once and they were not the same as the little sweet pillows of honey love pictured here.

Yum, they all look delicious. I wish I had greek food nearby....I have to drive an hour to get a gyro! When we drive to Vegas we stop at the Mad Greek and have a food fest.
ECM,
Bonjour from Paris.
Your Greek trip looks fantastic (ha!).
How did you do that with the cool Polaroid snapshot backround.
Love it.
Regards,
Stacey (not your sister, the other Stacey)
As soon as you get the recipe, put it up! Oh my!
I just love greek food. If she gives you that recipe please post it. I really like your pictures.
You have reminded me that I secretly dream of all things Greek when I'm not making biscuits. Seriously. I wish I were born Greek. Festival or not, I wanna be Greek, too.
I used to make spanakopita, man I love that! I have a recipe that came from Tarpon Springs Florida, a very Greek community. I'll try to find it & recreate it. All I remember is patience is required and pounds & pounds of butter (butter between each layer of phyllo)
YUM! Sadly, we missed our Greek Fest this year.
Try any tzadski (sp) dip? that makes me want to move to greece. And grape leaves. Were there grape leaves there?
Now I'm drooling.
Greek food is my absolute favorite! I wish we had a Greek festival here. Luckily my local diner is owned by a wonderful Greek family and they always have something traditional on the specials.
I miss ethnic foods of all kinds. And am too lazy to make them myself. Boo.
no baklava? say it ain't so! :)
ours was this past weekend and i missed it. damnit. but the greek food in nashville sucks. just like the indian food. so so so sad...
Oh yum. I just went to a Greek restaurant and it was so good! Why does food have to be so good and I can't stop eating it! Arghhh!
Oh, Yum!! I really enjoy Greek food festivals. Thanks for reminding me that the time is right and I need to figure out when to look for the one here. Great photos and I definitely hope your sister finds time to share her recipe soon! :-)
Little pillows of honey? Do tell!
Little pillows of honey? Do tell!
You had me at Greek. With that tease of tzatsiki on the kabob meat. Food of the gods, I tell ya.
you might want to try thyme honey?
I loove Greek food, I would move to Greece for it if I could. There's good lebanese food in Monterrey, but not too many greek places. Most gyros are really masquerading tacos. **Sigh**
Yum, everything looks so yummy! I love the way the photos look like polaroids!
Giada DeLaurentiis had a recipe on Everyday Italian for some sort of fried cookie that was tossed in honey that made me drool. I can't find the recipe but when I do maybe that will be sorta close.
it's stacey
here it is....
SPANAKOPITA
*put the phyllo dough in the frigde the day before and bring it out when prepping ingredients.
3 tsp olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 10 oz packs of chopped frozen spinach, defrosted and squeezed dry
salt and pepper
1/2 tsp nutmeg
8oz feta cheese, crumbled
2 eggs, beaten
6 tbsp sour cream
1 box phyllo dough pastry
6 tbsp butter, melted (you may need more)
preheat oven to 400 degrees. in a small pan over medium heat, ad oil and onion and saute for 5 min. then place in a medium mixing bowl. to that, add spinach, then season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. add feta, egg, and sour cream and mix.
in a large baking dish, place a layer or two of the phyllo dough and paint with the melted butter. repeat until the first roll of phyllo is used. spread the spinach mixture out evenly over the buttered phyllo then cover with the second roll of phyllo, painting each layer or two with butter till it's gone. score the dough in serving portions then bake for 35 min. let stand for 10 min before serving.
