leftovers... and some link love

My favorite picture of the moment. I have been on a reflection and shadows kick. I'm sure it will pass soon. This was taken at the observation tower at the deYoung Museum in San Fransisco. There are two panes of glass that come to a point in the center of that photo, you can't see them. The antenna tower and hills were actually not behind me, they were to the far left, but the way the glass angled it made the reflections do all this crazy stuff. By-the-way the tourist board in San Fransisco could not have arranged a better day. It was 70 degrees, sunny, and miracle-of-miracles NO FOG!
I really need a book to read, badly. Any recommendations?

as long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones...Cake; Rock 'n' Roll Lifestyle

The next three questions I need answers to. I rarely drink soda anymore, but as a kid I would always drink Coke or Dr. Pepper. Now whenever I indulge in a soda I cannot stand the taste of Coke, I'd rather have a Pepsi. Does anyone find this strange?

I love fresh ginger, but if it's not fresh it gives me a headache. Ginger Beer, gingersnaps, ginger candy all give me headaches. Does anyone know why? I wish I took this photo, but alas, I did not.

The same goes for peppermint. Candy, gum, candy canes. Again, why?

Angies Pangies ...your header on your blog gave me the inspiration for this photo.

Speaking of photos... she eats has some great photos on her blog about her trip to Phoenicia Specialty Foods. There is a picture called beer and bongos. I just want to know where Matthew McConaughey is?

White on Rice has another cooking video posted on their website. Again two thumbs up. I want them to adopt me. Please don't take my kids, take me instead!

3.14 pie day is coming up, soon. If you want to be a part of it, it's not too late. Just leave a comment or drop me an email... evilchefmom [at] aol [dot] com.

what kind of book? if you were looking for non-foodie literature my top 5 suggestions would be:

mister sandman by barbara gowdy
cat's eye by margaret atwood
last of the crazy people by timothy findley
running in the family by michael ondaatje
forms of devotion by diane schoemperlen

all canadian. all wonderful. all a little unusual.

Love the picture in San Fran.

That's odd about the ginger. I actually take ginger caplets to help with motion sickness. Other than dramamine, which knocks me out, it's the only thing that helps. And it gives you a headache, weird.

Have a good weekend. Good luck with the pondering.

weird about mister sandman. it has been out for over 10 years. i read it way back in grade 13 and it was already out a few years back then.

which atwood/findley have you read? i'm always curious about canadians that get read south of the border.

also, i should mention that all of the books i suggested are books i've read and reread many times. i did my honours thesis on the collected works of barbara gowdy and diane schoemperlen. but i should warn that when i first read forms of devotion i was blown away but my mom HATED it will a fiery passion.

Hello! Thank you for the linky-loo. :) Love the picture, makes me smile. We're still in the throws of winter here.

I can't help with the books. All I read are books on how-in-the-hell-to-deal-with-autism (or ADHD, or mood-disorders, or whatever has me pulling my hair out this week). I buy a lot of books. And wigs.

I must have missed your first post on pie day. I had already planned to make something pie-ish for the 14th, so I'll definitely join in. Geeks, represent!
