Kimberly Latham, a fashion publicist in New York, said: “I would never have read ‘The Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ I’m not even sure I know what an omnivore is. But I know what a skinny bitch is, and I know I want to be one.”

This is a quote from the New York Times about the book "Skinny Bitch" and "Skinny Bitch in the Kitch" by Rory Freedman (a booker for runway models) and Kim Barnouin (a model). These books are about how to eat vegan with some "sassy straight talk" thrown in. While I am for living your own life and knowing what you are putting in your body, I do have a couple of issues. Barnouin went to an unaccredited school for holistic nutrition for alternative health and Freedman says she's a self taught know-it-all. That makes me very leery. But I'll give them credit for coming up with a book title that makes you want to pick it up and see what it's about.

My issue or rant right now isn't about the book per se but about the above quote. Don't you learn about omnivores and carnivores and plant eaters in, like what, the first grade? You are quoted in the newspaper of record saying that. Ugh. She couldn't care less about what she is eating or where she is getting her information from. She's just interested in being a skinny bitch and I have a feeling she is one in real life already. A skinny uneducated one.

I need to step away from the keyboard before I throw it out the window.
